We've all come a long way since being founded by Rachel & Jason in London in 2010!
Born in Birmingham where she was the eldest of four children, Rachel had a lifelong interest in well being, healthy living and the community. She was always determined to make huggle a resource destination for new parents, grandparents and those overwhelmed by the mass of information available. She previously worked for a number of years in product marketing roles for Citibank, Barclaycard & American Express, project managing a variety of campaigns including the re-launch of the exclusive Centurion credit card in the UK, before starting huggle and fulfilling a long held ambition.
Jason was born and raised in London to an English father & a very proud South African mother. He held various buying roles both here and abroad for companies ranging from the Arcadia Group, House of Fraser and Tesco to multi brand department store Holt Renfrew (part of Galen Weston's Whittington Fashion Group which also includes Selfridges), travelling the world to source product and bring them to market.
Following a period living in Canada, they were both impressed at how well new parents and their kids were catered for there. Great retail store environments with modern, stylish, healthy product and knowledgeable customer service with a smile that put us Brits to shame!
On returning to London in 2006 with a newborn daughter they became progressively more frustrated by the array of disappointing products and services on offer. Combined with poor retail customer experiences and disappointing local activities in spaces that weren't fit for kids, it made them determined to challenge the status quo and introduce a new approach for parents who weren't prepared to compromise.
With 4 years research, many long hours spent sourcing new products and more than just a couple of disagreements en route, they finally embarked on the launch of huggle in 2010.
Over the years, we have established ourselves as London's premium independent store for families, offering a range of products from over 150 different brands around the world. We continue to source exclusive and unique products that fit in with modern lifestyles, are ethically and sustainably sourced but most importantly are best in class and stand the test of time!
